RECITATIVE.
As George dealt forth his vengeance thro' the land
To curb proud France by Jove's divine command,
The God survey'd the monarch's anxious care,
And thus decreed to sooth the toils of war.
SONG. Tune, With swords on their thighs, in Eliza.
I.
Ye powers appear, my fav'rite befriend,
To crown all his virtues, let beauty attend;
A form now composed with a majestic mien,
And let Britain's isle be now blest in a Queen.
II.
Minerva bestow your choice gifts on the fair;
Ye graces adorn with an angelic air;
That all British hearts with true joy now may sing,
With a consort complete, oh! how blest is their King!
III.
The God thus decreed, 'twas next his command,
That fame with these tidings should bless the glad land;
All the people rejoic'd to hear the cheerful sound,
And Charlott's the Queen the hills echo'd around.
IV.
Let love crown their joy, grand war now may cease;
And each Britain toast soon the blessing of peace:
Then contented and happy we'll sing all the day long;
For George & his Charlott's the theme of our song.
