Paris. July 7. In consequence of the Act of Parliament of
the 14th of June last, the young man committed for
blasphemy, was carried from the Conciergerie and executed at
Abbeville the first of this month. He made the Artende
honourable, in declaring that he had wickedly and impiously,
with deliberate purpose, past before the Holy Sacrament
without taking off his hat and kneeling; that he had utter'd
blasphemies against God, the Holy Sacraments, the Holy
Virgin, religion, the commands of God and the church,
mentioned in the process; that he had sung two songs, full
of horrible and abominable blasphemies against God, the Holy
Sacraments, the Holy Virgin and the Saints, mention'd in the
process; and that he had paid marks of adoration to infamous
books, and profaned the sign of the cross, the ministry of
the consecration of the wine, the benedictions used in the
church and amongst Christians, of which he repented, and
begged pardon of God and the King, and of justice.
