ON PROPHANE SWEARING.
Of all the nauseous, complicated crimes,
That both infect and stigmatize the times,
There's none that can with impious oaths compare,
Where vice and folly have an equal share;
Don't bind your self to what you cannot do;
And never swear, altho' the thing be true,
For 'tis a wicked and a great offence,
To call on God for each impertinence.
