Edinburgh, June 13. On Thursday evening the 16th of July
last, some gentlemen, who supped and spent a few agreeable
hours at a public=house in Fleet-Street, upon calling for
the bill of expences, had the following given them by the
landlord, viz.
For geese, the finest ever seen, L . s. d.
By Duke or Duchess, King or Queen, 0. 6 6
For nice green peas, so plump and pretty
Better ne'er eat in London city, 0. 3 9
For charming gravy made to please,
With butter, bread, and Cheshire cheese, 0. 3 0
For honest porter, brown and stout,
that cheers the heart, and cures the gout, 0 1 5
For unadulterated wine,
Genuine! noble! pure! divine, 0. 6 6
For my Nan's punch, (and Nan knows how
To make good punch, you all allow) 0. 7 6
For juniper, most clear and fine,
That looks, and almost tastes, like wine, 0. 1 4
For choice tobacco, undefil'd,
harmless and pleasant, soft and mild, 0. 0 2
