The Co-partnership of David Griffith, and Samuel Bowles,
being dissolved, all persons to whom they are indebted are
desired to call and receive their pay--and those indebted to
them are requested to make immediate payment to either, in
order to prevent further trouble, especially those whose
accounts are of long standing.
Portsmouth, October 9, 1771.
Just imported from London, and to be sold by David Griffith,
At the Sign of the Goldsmiths Arms in Queen Street, and by
Samuel Bowles, At his shop opposite the Post Office in King
Street, as cheap for cash, as is sold in the Province, the
following articles,
broad cloths, serges, kerseys, ratteens; bearskins;
shallooons; tammies; durants; buttons and twist; . . . [30
lines of goods] hand saws; horn and ivory combs; mill saw
and whip saw files; large and small rasps; cut and handsaw
files; flat half round, knife and round files; iron Jews
harps; iron wire; cork screws; sieve bottoms; sieves by the
quantity or single; . . . [2 lines] children's white and
yellow watches; steel watch chains; keys and seals; steel
chapes and tongues; leather horse collars; horse-whips;
cowskins, and whip lashes--Bibles; testaments; psalters;
primers; spelling books; cartridge and writing paper; pack
ditto; ink powder; black and red sealing wax; . . .
