Portsmouth, September 24. Tuesday last, being the
anniversary of the coronation of his majesty King George
III, the same was observed here in the usual manner by
firing the guns at Castle William and Mary, &c. And in the
evening the gentlemen of the town gave a genteel ball at the
Assembly-Room, at which were present a number of strangers,
&c. . . [2 lines] The Oratorical Academy Room in Pitt-
Street is nearly finish'd, and will be open'd very soon,
with a Charity Night for the benefit of the poor of the
town, when the following exhibitions will be performed, viz.
1. A Prologue in praise of charity.
2. The Politicians, or what News, a dramatic satire.
3. A comic dance, called the Irish Lilt.
4; A pantomimical entertainment in grotesque characters
call'd the Escape or Harlequin turn'd Doctor.
