Philadelphia, July 28. On Tuesday the 20th inst. a
commencement was held in the College of this city, before a
very crouded and splendid assembly of the inhabitants of all
denominations.--The commencement was opened with prayer by
the Provost.
Just before the valedictory oration, the following
gentlemen were admitted to degrees, vix.
. . . [13 lines of those receiving Batchelors of Arts,
Master of Arts, and Batchelor of Physick]
Several gentlemen of the town were pleased to entertain
the audience with some excellent pieces of psalmody and
church music, accompanied by the organ, and the band belong
to the 28th or Royal Irish Regiment, which the commander of
that Regiment, with his usual politeness, was pleased to
lend on that occasion.
