Newport, March 23.  The friends of liberty, on the approach
of the eighteenth day of March, instant, the anniversary of
the repeal of the late stamp act,were determined on that
memorable day, to make some public exhibition, demonstrative
of their invariable adherence to the cause of liberty . . .
A royal salute was fired from the point battery; the bells
were rang, &c.
