London, July 5. The lieutenants of the Navy having had
considerable addition to their half-pay, and the petition of
the sea officers widows, recommended by his majesty, not
having answered their expectations; yesterday a printed
petition dated the 4th of June, (intitled the cause of
truth, of justice, and the poor, drawn up by William
Stewardson, in behalf of himself and other, addressed to the
King's most excellent majesty and council, with this motto,
"O justice, O King, and ye right hon. councellors of the
land.) was delivered at the council chamber, by the widows
of this army, with the following lines enclosed:
Arise, O King, thy heav'n born soul display.
And help poor widows in their deep distress;
Whose husbands fought for thee, whose orphans cry
To thee for God-like succour and support.
