London, Feb 8. A gentleman coming through Maccesfield to
London lately, saw a number of lads about 13 years old with
cockades in their hats. He was surprized to see boys so
young taken as recruits, and asked whether they were
recruits or school-boys? Upon which one of them answered
they were recruits to serve his Majesty against the rebels
in North-America. The gentleman next asked if they were to
be drummers? They said that they belonged to the grenadier
company in the Manchester regiment. This is a matter of
