I shall not detain you to make an application to our present
times here; but Zenger's Journal (with which you have been
so long seiz'd) puts me in mind of part of the character of
Old Thirstes, so finely describ'd in Pope's Homers.
Thirstes only clamour'd, in the throng,
Loquacious loud, and turbulent of tongue,
And by no shame, by no respect controul'd;
In scandal busy, in reproaches hold;
But Chief, he glory'd with licentious style,
To lash the great, the rulers to revile.
