London, November 13. . . [Funeral of George II.] At six
o'clock St. Paul's great bell began tolling once every
minute, which was followed in the same manner by all the
bells in every parish in London, which continued till eleven
o'clock at night. . . [18 lines, description of procession]
The whole had entered the Abbey about nine o'clock, where
the Anthem and Funeral Ceremony was performed, which took up
three quarters of an hour, when they returned nearly in the
same order they went.
The drums were all muffled up with crape, and the
drummers ranged along the scaffolding, beating a dead march
during the procession; the household trumpeters and fifes
marched in mourning, with black jockey caps. . .
