Springfield [Massachusetts] May 27. On Tuesday last being
the day on which the Court of General Sessions of the Peace,
and the Court of Common Pleas opened in this town, a
banditti, collected from the obscure corners of the county,
composed of men of the most infamous characters, to the
amount of about sixty in number, met in this town to prevent
the sitting of the court. . . [12 lines] when the bell rang
for the court, they, in hostile parade, armed with white
