ON THE FAITHFULNESS OF DOGS.
Amongst the animal part of the creation, there is none
generally look'd upon or treated with so much contempt as
dogs . . .
I remember, Mr. Pope, in a letter to one of his friends,
speaking of a favourite dog of his own . . .
When wise Ulisses, from his native coast,
Long kept by wars, and long by tempests tost;
