A Thought arising on the similitude of the name Columbus,
with the Latin name of a dove, which is also Columbus; that
bird being the first discoverer of the New World after the
Flood, as Columbus was of America.
The world's great Lord commands the dove to fly,
To search the wat'ry waste and land descry;
Some time th' advent'rer traverses the deep,
Nor trees or mountains thro' the waters peep,
