New-York, November 14, 1757. This day the subscriber opens
a dancing-school in the house of Mr. Ennis, at the corner of
Stone-Street; where he also teaches the noble science of
defence, both in manner following,--On every Monday, from 9
to 12 in the forenoon, he teaches fencing, and keeps a
publick dance in the evening.--On Wednesdays and Fridays,
fencing taught in the forenoon, and dancing in the
afternoon; at reasonable rates, respectively. [signed] John

N.B. All gentlemen and ladies who chuse to be taught at
their own houses, shall be attended upon by the subscriber,
on the other days of the week.---He is to be spoke with upon
the above occasions, at the said school.
