CALUMNY AND DEFAMATION.
We should be as careful of our words as our actions; and as
far from saying as from doing ill.
He that shall rail against his absent friends,
Or hears them scandaliz'd, and not defends;
Sport with their fame, and speaks what e'er he can,
To be esteem'd a just or witty man;
Tells tales, and brings his friends in disesteem:
That man's a knave; be sure beware of him.
