The Brigadier Chederas having been commanded to seize the fortress of Taganrock at the mouth of the Don. . . took the fortress, which he commands at present. Immediately after which, he caused Te Deum to be sung on account of the success of the expedition, and ordered the Russian colours, and the arms of the Empress to be planted on the principal rampart towards the sea. |
