[London] Yesterday a mortifying fray happened between Dr.
Goldsmith, the author of the new comedy called, She stoops
to conquer, and Mr. Evans, the publisher of the London
Packet of the 25th. The Doctor, it seems, thought himself
injured by some passage in the packet, and calling upon the
publisher to resent the insult, took an opportuity, while
Evans was looking over the papers in question, to lay his
cane over the bookseller's shoulders. . . [describes a
"bloody battle", the constable called, Dr. Goldsmith led to
a coach by a "brother author".]
