[In a letter "to the printer" re "equality among men", the
final paragraph is the following] I engage myself to enter
the lists with him, and to prove in opposition to all he can
say, that the amusements of the theatre are rational, and as
such, entitled to the protection of government, and the
patronage of every sensible man, and that they tend to the
good of a community.  I am, sage Sir, your humble servant,
Philo Theatricus.
