[Celebration of the repeal of the Stamp-Act at Hamden-Hall
and the Liberty Pole, then to dinner with numerous toasts
listed] The day was celebrated with great joy and decency.
A little before sunset, the company from Hampden-Hall,
joined by a number of people in the fields, went with music
playing, and colours flying, to the New-Goal, where they
saluted Capt. McDougall, with three cheers, which were
answered in like manner by the company within. [Description
of his speech, and subsequent processions to end the day's
festivities.]
