Theatre. By permission of his Excellency the Governor. By
the American Company, at the Theatre in John Street, this
present evening, the 2d of August, will be presented, never
performed there, the last new comedy written by Dr.
Goldsmith, called,
She stoops to Conquer: or, The Mistakes of a Night.

Mrs. Hardcastle, by Mrs. Morris. Miss Neville, by Miss
Storer, Maid, by Miss Richardson, Miss Hardcastle, by Miss
Hallam.

The Musical Lady.

This play is truly comic. The humour is irresistible; and
pleases in the closet as well as in the theatre. Dr.
Goldsmith has been happy in the choice of his characters;
they are supported throughout with great propriety; and the
incidents that appear improbable are, in general, the
natural effects of the thoughtless sallies of a young
frolicksome country squire. [Gent. Magazine]
