[News via London.] Friday, a journeyman baker, (with a
basket full of bread) meeting an acquaintance of the same
profession in St. Martin's lane, desired him to stand by his
basket, while he delivered some bread in Upper St. Martin's
lane; the latter being out of place, and having a violin in
his hand, desired him to make haste back, and he would play
him a tune; but being more intent on his fiddle than the
basket, which a sharper perceiving, came, and sans ceremony,
threw the basket on his shoulder, and marched off; in the
mean while, the first-mentioned coming back, found his
careful friend tuning up, but no basket; on being asked what
was become of it, answered, he thought the man who took it
had been his fellow servant, so he asked him no questions:.
