Boston, March 20. Friday last the President (Major
Carncross) and the members of the ancient and most
benevolent order of friendly brothers of St. Patrick
(particularly those belonging to the principal knot of the
47th regiment) now quartered in this city, did, with a
dignity and decorum peculiar to that excellent institution,
commemorate the anniversary of their patron. At noon they
appeared in King-street, and, preceded by a band of music,
marched in procession to the King's Chapel; where prayers
were read, and an elegant, well adapted sermon preached by
the Rev. Mr. Nichols, chaplain of the knot. After prayers
the solemn and loyal anthem of God Save Great George Our
King, was performed by the music. The procession returned
to Col. Ingersol's Tavern, where they dined and celebrated
the day with that benevolence, loyalty and festivity which
ever distinguishes the order.
