Between nine and ten o'clock last Tuesday evening, a fire
broke out in the roof of Mr. Samuel Deal's house in Broad-
street, at the corner of Duke-street. The alarm of fire was
instantly given, and carried through the town. It was
surprising to see the alertness and numbers of the sailors
and soldiers, and inhabitants, who turned out upon the
occasion, and with what dispatch they extinguished the
flames. The drums beat to arms, and in a few minutes the
avenues of the town were completely guarded by the soldiers.
