(By permission.) Theatre. New-York, August 15, 1783. To-
morrow evening, the 16th instant, will be presented, a
comedy called
The Recruiting Officer.
The characters of Serjeant Kite, Worthy, and Scale, by
gentlemen for their amusement;
Captain Plume, Mr. Ryan; Costor Pearmain, Mr. Lewis;
Thomas Appletree, Mr. Davids; Justice Balance, Mr. Coffy;
mob, recruits, &c by Messrs. Walker, Jones, &c.; Captain
Brazen, Mr. Wall; Melinda, Mrs. Smith; Rose, Mrs.
Fitzgerald; Lucy, Mrs. Garrison; and Sylvia, Mrs. Ryan.
To which will be added, a farce, called
Chrononhotonthologos being the most tragical tragedy that
ever was tragedized by any tragical company of tragedians.
Chrononhotonthologos, Mr. Lewis; Aloiborontiphoscophornio,
Mr.Wall. Captain of Guards, Mr. Coffy. Herald, Mr. Davids.
Cook, Mr. Walker. Regdrun, Funnidos, Mr. Ryan. Fadleocnida,
Mrs. Ryan. Court ladies, &c. Tatlanthe, Mrs. Parsons. The
other characters to the best advantage, Dancing, by Mr.
Roussell.
Ladies and gentlemen are requested to observe, that no money
will be received at the doors. The band will be led by
Signior Gaetano Franceschini. Servants sent to keep boxes
are desired to attend at half past five o'clock. The doors
will be open at six, and begin at half past seven. Boxes
and pit 8s. Gallery 4s. Tickets to be had at
Mr.Rivington's and at Mrs. Petit's, at the Theatre, where
places for the boxes are to be taken.
