London, September 5 Intelligence Extraordinary. Last
Thursday being the day on which peace was proclaimed, there
was a most brilliant levee at St. James's, firing of cannon
and diversity of rejoicings, and at night beautiful
illuminations, grand fireworks, a most superb ball at court
and concerts of vocal and instrumental music. . . in
particular a solo on the bagpipes by Sawney MacDrone; and
the grand catch Yankey Doodle sung in thirteen parts by
thirteen loyal refugees of the best character, which
afforded inexpressible pleasure.
