Williamsburgh, May 30. Upwards of forty ladies and gentlemen
of the Cherokee nation are now here on a negociation of
peace, which it is hoped will be lasting, and to prevent
encroachments on their lands. They have had an audience, and
it is expected a compact will be settled. . . [2 1/2 lines]
After the talk was concluded they favoured the public with a
dance on the green in front of the palace, where a
considerable number of spectators, both male and female,
were agreeably entertained.
