Translations of Psalm 147, V. 16.
[Verses 16, 17, 18 in Latin, followed by English
translations]
Large flakes of snow, like fleecy wool descend at his
command;
And hoary frost, like ashes spread, is scatter'd o'er the
land.
When, joyn'd to these, he does his hail in little morsels
break,
Who can against his piercing cold secure defences make?
He sends his word, which melts the ice; he makes his wind to
blow.
And soon the streams, congeal'd before, in plenteous
currents flow
Tate, & Brady.
[Translations follow: in Dutch, signed Gargon; in French,
signed Th. De Beza; in German, signed Neand.]
