Newport, (Rhode-Island) May 25. Last Wednesday morning two
of the ministers of the United Brethren, attended by a
number of that religious sect met together at the spot where
they are about to erect a building for public worship, in
order to lay the chief corner stone, the ceremony began with
a hymn on the humanity of Christ; that being ended, the
ministers laid their hands upon the stone, and one of them
pronounced these words: Upon this stone we build a house to
God, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This
was succeeded by a prayer pertinent to the occasion; then
another hymn was sang, . . .
