[In article discussing meaning of word "infant" as used in
"the celebrated Bradfordian* Journal" of Baltimore, the
following:]

word infancy means the first age, beginning, original, or
commencement of any thing. Johnson ---So Roscommon,
First the shrill sound of a small rural pipe,
Was entertainment for the infant stage.
. . . [14 lines] that I shall only apply to him the
following lines of Mr. Pope:
No crab more active in the dirty dance,
Downwards to climb, and backwards to advance,
He brings up half the bottom on his head,
And loudly claims the Journal and the Lead.
[signed] The Printer.
* Bad work in printing, by the typographers in America, is
called Bradfordian.
