As soon as the news came here of the Lord Mayor and Mr. Alderman Oliver's enlargement, the bells were set a ringing, all the ships in the river hoisted their colours, and Sir. F. B. Delaval gave a grand supper to the corporation of Newcastle. After supper an elegant ball was given, the town was finely illuminated, and the populace made a large bonfire on the key-side. . . |
