Philadelphia, December 10, 1772. Ten Pounds Reward. A
Burglary. Whereas a number of evil disposed persons, in the
night between the ninth and tenth instant, burglariously and
feloniously, broke open the gallery door of the theatre,
tore off and carried away the iron spikes, which divide the
galleries from the upper boxes; and had they not been
detected, and put to flight by the servants of the theatre,
who dwell in the house, would, there is reason to imagine,
have compleated their malicious designs. In order,
therefore, that the perpetrators may be brought to justice,
the above reward is offered, to whoever will discover any of
the persons concerned in the said burglary, to be paid on
their conviction. [signed] David Douglass.
