Just published and to be sold, by John Dunlap, in Market-
street, Philadelphia, She Stoops to Conquer: or The Mistakes
of a Night. A Comedy. As it is acted at the Theatre Royal
in Covent Garden. Written by Dr. Goldsmith.
This play is truly comic: the humour is irresistable, and
pleases in the closet as well as in the theatre. It was
acted in New-York a few nights ago, to a judicious and
polite audience; its success in England was unprecedented,
and on that stage unexampled. Dr. Goldsmith has been happy
in the choice of his characters, they are supported
throughout with great propriety; and the incidents that
appear improbable, are in general, the natural effects of
the thoughtless sallies of a young frolicksome country
squire.
