[Long dialogue over many issues called "The Religious
Courtship.  A casual reference in conversation between Lord
of manor and his tenant William, concerning upbringing of a
young cousin:]
La.  And who do you think spoiled him?
Will. Some wicked children, that they let him play with, I
believe, or some loose servants.
La.  No, no, William, only his own father and mother; I have
heard his father take him when he was a child, and make him
speak lewd words, and sing immodest songs, when the poor
child did not so much as know the meaning of what he said,
or that the words were not fit for him to speak: . . .
