[Following death of Pope Benedict XIII, his body was]
carried the next morning, in an open litter, lined with
crimson velvet, preceeded by the master of the ceremonies,
and surrounded by the said fathers, his late Holiness's
footmen, the Swiss guards, and a troop of horse, with 7
pieces of canon, 2 trumpets, and lighted flambeaux, and
deposited in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, where it
is to lie 3 days with the naked feet without the rails, for
the people to kiss; . . .
