Boston, July 27. We have had published here the following
congratulatory poem, lately communicated from London.
To his Excellency Jonathan Belcher, Esq; in London,
appointed by his Majesty King George II. to the Government
of New-England, and now returning home.
Go, favourite man; spread to the wind thy sails:
The western ocean smiles; the eastern gales
Attend thy hour. Ten thousand vows arise
T'ensure for the waves, for thee the skies,
And waft thee homeward. . .
[36 more lines, signed] March 31, 1730. I. Watts.
