London, Sept. 27. Yesterday morning between 9 & 10 o'clock,
dies of a suppression of urine, at his house in Bow-street,
Covent-Garden, Robert Wilks Esq; one of the masters of the
Theatre Royal in Drury-Lane. He was the best player in
genteel comedy that ever appeared on the English stage. He
was also remarkable for his great humanity & generosity.
His death is not only lamented by those who had the pleasure
of his acquaintance, but also by all who had any taste for
theatrical entertainments, and it may be truly said, that
his death is the greatest loss the English stage has ever
sustained.
