London, April 19. . . Yesterday was held a court of common-
council, when a petition to the House of Commons was
resolved on, against the increasing number of play-houses in
the suburbs of the city of London, and the same being drawn
up, the sheriff was directed to present it, which he did
accordingly.
A petition was also presented, signed by several justices
of the Peace, of the county of Middlesex, in behalf of the
bill 'For restraining the number of houses for playing
interludes, and for the better regulating common players of
interludes.'
