Chester County, June 7, 1759. Deserted from Capt. John
Singleton's company of the Pennsylvania New Levies, near
Christine Bridge the following recruits, viz. . . [4 lines,
2 men] Hugh Tully, 5 feet 8 inches high, lives near Dover,
was a drummer last year with Major Wells; he is about 35
years of age. . . [12 lines, 6 others] Whoever secures the
said deserters (as they are mostly all gone off with green
regimentals, but may change their clothes) and secures them
in any of his Majesty's jails, or delivers them up to any
officer belonging to the Pennsylvania regiment, shall
receive five pounds reward for each, paid by me [signed]
John Singleton, Captain.
N.B. All masters of vessels, and others, are forewarned
not to carry off, or harbour said deserters as they may
expect to be punished with the severity of the law.
