For the benefit of Mr. Douglass, By Permission, At the
Theatre, on Society-hill,
On Friday next, being the 2d instant, will be performed the
tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet,
With the funeral procession of Juliet to the monument of the
Capulets, and a solemn dirge, as it is performed at the
Theatre Royal in Covent-Garden.
A prologue will be spoken by Mr. Douglass, in the
character of a Master Mason; and an epilogue by Mrs.
Douglass, in the character of a Mason's wife.
Between the acts songs by Masons.
The farce,
Miss in her Teens.
The audience may depend that the play will be performed in
the best manner we can; and that every thing in the play,
procession, and entertainment, will be conducted with utmost
decorum.
Mr. Douglass humbly hopes the ladies and gentlemen, who
have favoured the company with their appearance at public
plays, will also do him the honor of their attendance at his
particular benefit. -- He begs leave to observe, that he
intends to do himself the pleasure of waiting on as many
ladies and gentlemen as he possibly can; but intreats those,
whom it may be his misfortune to neglect, rather to
attribute it to his care in preparing for their
entertainment in the most compleat manner in his power, than
to disrespect.
