Extract of a genuine letter from an officer at Guernsey,
dated March 24, 1783. A most daring mutiny broke out in the
104th regiment, quartered in Fort George in this island, all
Irish. . . [7 lines, men took over fort by force.] About
twelve o'clock at night, sent a serjeant, with the drum-
major, to summon them to surrender; the moment the drum
began to beat a parley, they fired upon them, when three
shells were thrown over the fort to frighten them; a non-
commissioned officer immediately came out with terms, viz. .
