Brookfield, April 6. The following is perhaps the most
remarkable instance of singing that ever happened, the truth
whereof may be relied upon, for numbers of credible persons
can testify thereto, viz. That one Thomas Banister, of this
town, has a son not yet four years old, who would at three
years and an half old, sing twenty different tunes in
psalmody, by rules commonly used in the books; exactly
conforming himself thereto without any assistance, only
naming the particular tune to him.---And when this child was
but twenty two months old, he would sing the tune of Dr.
Watt's Ode with another person, who only sung bass to the
same, and carry it through without missing one note.
