New York, July 30.  From Elizabeth-town in New-Jersey, we
have certain intelligence, that some of the officers of the
28th regiment quarter'd lately at that place . . . About one
o'clock in the morning, they began an attack on the court-
house, where the under-sheriff lived, broke the windows, and
endeavored to force the door, the sheriff thereupon rang the
bell and alarmed the inhabitants; . . .
