The subscriber takes this method to inform all gentlemen and
ladies, that he proposed to open a dancing-school in this
town, near Mr. Richard Olney's, on Monday, the 18th instant
(provided a sufficient number present) where will be taught
the minuet, double minuet, quadruple minuet, paspie,
gavotta, alouver, hornpipe, country dances, &c. of the
newest figures. As he has had the honour of teaching the
principal nobility in England and Ireland, and some very
respectable personages in America, he flatters himself he
shall meet with suitable encouragement, and doubts not of
giving entire satisfaction. Attendance will be given at his
school on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, when the
ladies will be taught from nine in the morning to twelve
o'clock, during which time no gentlemen will be admitted;
and from five to eight o'clock, p.m. will be solely devoted
to the instruction of the gentlemen. In the mean time,
attendance will be given for instruction on the violin. All
gentlemen and ladies who are desirous of attending his
school, may be informed of the terms of admission, with the
rules and regulations thereof, by applying at his lodgings,
at Capt. John Peck's.
N.B. After one month's instruction, the gentlemen and
ladies will be directed to attend together, on every Friday
evening, at which time their respective parents inclined to
speculation will have free access. [signed] John Baptist
Tioli.
