Philadelphia. . . March 6. Yesterday at noon "his
excellency Thomas Wharton, jun. Esquire, President of the
Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, Captain-General and Commander in Chief in and
over the same," was proclaimed at the court-house, in the
present of a vast concourse of people, who expressed the
highest satisfaction on the occasion by unanimous shouts of
acclamation. . .
The bells of the city were run, and the whole was
conducted with the utmost decency, and no accident happened
of any kind.
