The late birth of an heir to the crown of France has
occasioned inexpressible joy to that nation. . . .
His majesty, as well as all the court, assisted, after the
baptism, at the Te Deum, which was performed on this
occasion, in the chapel of the castle, by the King's music.
. . .
Scarcely were these words, on the 22d, publicly repeated,
a Dauphin! a Dauphin! . . . but the sieurs de Boissy . . .
charged with the execution of so benevolent an action, [to
free debtors] they fly to the Fort l'Evique, declare their
mission, and cause to be sung, in the chapel of this prison
a Te Deum . . .
The chosen debtors, having gained their liberty, and a
further sum of money being distributed among them, blessing
their deliverer . . .
