Yesterday being the Festival of St. John, the day was
celebrated here by the Ancient and Honorable Society of Free
and Accepted Masons.--The Lodge was opened in the council
chamber at eleven o'clock, a.m. at twelve the right
worshipful master and brethren (66 in number) went in
procession to the Episcopal Church, where a concourse of
respectable inhabitants and strangers were assembled, when
an elegant oration was pronounced by the honorable General
Varnum, and an anthem performed, together with music on the
organ, to general acceptance. . .
