Extract of a letter from Paris, dated August 29. Several
persons have within a few days past been arrested, and
carried to the Bastile, for having criticis'd and made
remarks upon the conduct of the ministry, in relation to the
present circumstances of affairs. As amongst these there
are several belonging to persons of distinction, many
satirical pamphlets and songs upon the Robe and the Sword,
have appear'd, whereby people are made acquainted with what
before they were ignorant of, and given to understand that
the innocent are imprison'd, whilst the guilty are at
liberty, and without reserve made merry and live in clover
at the expence of the court. . .
