London . . . March 8. . . We learn by the master of a ship
that came on change yesterday, who was at Aberdeen on
Saturday last, that his royal highness the Duke of
Cumberland was then there with an army of 10, 000 men and
that he had sent between 2 and 3000 towards Inverness two
days before, and the rest were preparing to follow them: He
arrived there on the Thursday before, on which occasion the
bells were rung, the houses illuminated, and all other
demonstrations of joy shewn by the inhabitants. . . .
